Thane traffic department launches drive to check motorists, collects Rs 6 lakh in 1 day through e-challans

Thane: The Thane traffic division dispatched an extraordinary drive in the city and led a crackdown on drivers. The traffic police halted drivers at a few intersections and gave e-challans to guilty parties. The office recuperated e-challans worth Rs 6 lakh on the primary day of the drive. 


The traffic division of the city made a move against 1,708 drivers who were found disregarding rules and had not paid their e-challans. The specialists did naka bandi at a few intersections and halted drivers haphazardly. 


Naka bandi at 18 units 


Naka bandi was led at 18 units of the Thane police commissionerate in regions like Thane, Dombivli, Kalyan and Bhiwandi. The cops halted the vehicles at a few areas and checked the records for forthcoming e-challans. In instances of forthcoming fines, the drivers were approached to clear them. 


More than 1,700 unpaid e-challans in Thane 


By Tuesday, the office gathered fines worth Rs 6 lakh from 1,708 unpaid e-challans. Balasaheb Patil, the delegate official of police, traffic, said that one a normal, the division gathers fine worth Rs 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh consistently. The authorities likewise dropped the licenses of the guilty parties who couldn't clear their levy. 


Patil stated, "Almost 42 driving licenses were seized, five RC books were seized and nine vehicles were appropriated. They will be returned once the forthcoming e-challans are cleared. Patil said that he trusts that the drive will ask local people to clear their forthcoming e-challans. The drive is said to proceed to a couple of more weeks alongside shock checks by the staff of the division across Thane.
